Summer Fun

I am not a very fun mom...especially during the summer!  It is true.  I love my cleaning calendar more than anything and my kids have a healthy amount of jobs everyday.  And even with the cleaning, the house is still messier than normal, which means I get grumpier than normal! ; )

But I was proud of myself this last weekend...I did lots of things that were fun for the kids.  We celebrated on Monday...we went to the parade in Provo and had a wonderful shaded spot.  Then we had festive hot dogs for lunch.

Aren't these fun??  I saw them on a blog that I follow.  My kids (like most) LOVE hot dogs, but they rarely get them.  It has become quite the treat!! ; )

The "fries" are homemade in your microwave and the kids loved making them.  (Recipe here.)  They were supposed to be stars, but I didn't have a small star cookie cutter. The older kids diligently carved stars with little knives, but I was too lazy!

And I made these for my husband and I.  Not only are they beautiful, but they were so delicious.  I could have this for dessert every night!  (Vanilla and Lemon yogurt, homemade granola, fresh blueberries, and frozen raspberries.)

Then after lunch and naptime, we went and saw "How to Train Your Dragon".  All of our kids loved it and it cost us $5.25 because it was family night at the Dollar Theater!!  We would NEVER go to the movies without Movies 8!!  And we finished the day off with Taco Bell and sparklers.  At bedtime, my middle child said, "Today was a fun day!"
I'm glad ONE day so far this summer has been up to her standards!  ; )

I will be back this Monday with a new Meatless Monday!  I promise...sorry for being a slacker this summer.  It has been a really busy, really fun summer for me!

  1. Mmm... I haven't made that granola for a long time. Makes me really want it now though!
